I
am 58 years old and a lifelong resident of Marrero. I have been married to Catherine
"Tootsie" Allemand Gauthreaux for the past 38 years. We have three children,
Chad Gauthreaux, Brandy Gauthreaux Hew, Chivas Gauthreaux, and we have three grandsons.
I
graduated from Immaculate Conception School and West Jefferson High School. I
attended classes at Delgado Community College and the University of New Orleans.
In
1972 Sheriff Alwynn Cronvich hired me for a position in his tax office and in
1980 Sheriff Harry Lee became my boss and was a tremendous influence on my 35-year
career with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, serving the last 15 years as
Deputy Chief and Director of the Bureau of Revenue and Taxation. Additionally,
I worked part-time at Meyers Department Store from 1965 to 1978, Westside Bowl
from 1965 to 1982 and served in the United States Coast Guard from 1969 to 1974.
I retired in 2003 and fully separated from the Sheriff's Office in 2006.
